Last year many people discovered just how effective at home workouts can be. I’ve been doing at home workouts for over 10 years now. The fitness streaming service I use has thousands of workouts to choose from. In order to keep myself on track I like to map out a fitness plan for the year. I’m sharing my 2021 at home fitness plan and showing you how to create your own plan using my free Personal Fitness Plan Template.
What Is An At Home Fitness Plan
An at home fitness plan is a schedule of what exercise programs or activities you will do when.
Your at home workouts can include:
- Walking
- Running
- Biking
- Swimming
- Aerobics
- Weight Lifting
- Yoga
- Dance
Beachbody offers a variety of fitness programs you can do right in your own home. Following a program designed by a fitness expert can help you get the results you want. Tons of research goes into creating an exercise program. Equipment, moves and rep patterns are all carefully selected and combined to form a well-rounded program.
There are thousands of workouts to choose from in the Beachbody On Demand workout library. I like to choose a variety of different programs to create a fitness plan for the whole year.
Why is a Fitness Plan Important
A fitness plan can help guide you in achieving your goals. A good plan will provide a well rounded approach to fitness.
Following a fitness plan with a variety of exercises will prevent injuries that can occur when you are constantly doing the same thing over and over again. Mixing things up with different workouts causes muscle confusion which can help you get better results.
I used to spend my time wandering around the gym. I would jump on the elliptical. Lift a few weights on my favorite machines. I was putting in the time but saw zero results. Why? Because I didn’t have a plan and my body was bored doing the same thing over and over.
It wasn’t till I started doing at home workouts with Beachbody that I started seeing results. I followed the different programs and challenged my body like never before. It wasn’t the same thing every day. With each new program I learn new techniques to increase my endurance and strength. And now in my 40s I’m in the best shape of my life.
Mapping out a full year of programs helps me always know what I’m doing next. If not, you may finish a program and then lose your progress by spending days or weeks trying to figure out what to do next.
Starting is always the hardest. If you never stop you don’t have to worry about starting again. Knowing what you’re going to do next leaves no gaps making it easier to stay on track.
How To Make A Fitness Plan
It’s easy to create your own fitness plan. Use the Personal Fitness Plan Template to make your own workout plan and follow these simple steps.
Step 1 – Pick Workouts
First, select the workouts you want to do. You can choose anything but make it definite. Beachbody provides easy to follow workout programs that are already scheduled out for you. You can even access them on-line.
If you’d rather go to the gym, walk or take classes you’ll need to make a schedule. Don’t just say, go to the gym or go for a walk.
Create a schedule for what muscle groups you’re going to work each day, what cardio you will do and for how long. If you’re going to walk or run make a plan for how long either by length of time or miles.
Having a definite goal will give you something to aim for and improve your results.
Step 2- Set Dates
Next, put your workouts on your calendar. Look at each program and see how many days it will take to complete it.
Give yourself some wiggle room and a little more time than needed to complete the program because life happens.
Step 3- Print it Out
Finally, once you’ve got your schedule planned out it’s time to hit print on your personal fitness plan.
You’ll also want to print out the schedules for each program you’ve selected. I keep a clipboard in my workout room with all my workout program materials. Printing them all out means you are committing to getting them all done. Think of it like a contract with yourself.

2021 At Home Fitness Plan
It’s been getting harder and harder to create my at home fitness plan for the year. Beachbody just keeps coming out with new, amazing programs.
Here’s what I came up with for 2021:
- 9 Week Control Freak (January, February)
- MBF (March)
- Let’s Get Up (April, May)
- 9 Week Control Freak (June, July)
- 10 Rounds (August, September)
- Morning Meltdown 100 (October, November, December)
I’ve already started Beachbody’s newest program 9 Week Control Freak. It’s an amazing program by Autumn Calabrese and uses some new unique equipment. Right now the program is only available if you purchase VIP Early access.
I’ve got 9 Week Control Freak on the calendar in June & July as well. That’s when the program will release to everyone on Beachbody On Demand. I plan to run a group again for the program’s general release.
Beachbody’s new Spring program will be Let’s Get Up from Shaun T (T25 & Transform 20). This program is set to release in April. It will focus on dance & fun. The workouts will be about 30 minutes a day. They will include cardio dance sequences, body-weight resistance training and even Shaun T’s own Insanity-based moves set to music.
I’m filling in the one month gap between 9 Week Control Freak and Let’s Get Up with MBF. Muscle Burns Fat is a new program from 2020 by Megan Davies. I absolutely loved it!
After a second round of 9 Week Control Freak I chose 10 Rounds. I couldn’t decide between doing another round of MBF & MBFA but since I’ve already got MBF on the calendar I chose 10 Rounds.
I’m finishing out my schedule with Morning Meltdown 100. I like that the workouts are short and energetic. Just what I need at the end of the year.
