You’ve probably seen the posts on social media, “I’m looking for people who want to help others with their health & fitness”, “Join my team”, “Get in on this amazing business opportunity”. But what exactly are they asking you to do? I’m breaking down everything you need to know about becoming a Beachbody Coach.

What is a Beachbody Coach
A Beachbody Coach is simply someone who shares their love of Beachbody products and programs with others. The concept of “coaches” started back in the message board days. Beachbody first started by selling workout & nutrition programs on DVDs.
In the early days of social media people would go to message boards to ask questions and share ideas. There were Beachbody message boards that popped up. One of the things the folks at corporate noticed were that the people engaged on the message boards often times were getting great results. Why? Because they had the support & encouragement of a community of people they could lean into.
The company knew so many copies of their DVDs probably remained unopened, unused and therefore not fulfilling the company’s mission of: Helping people achieve their goals and enjoy healthy, fulfilling lives. They wanted a way to replicate the power of what was happening on those message boards and hence Beachbody Coaches were created.
TYPES OF BEACHBODY COACHES
There are different types of Beachbody Coaches.
- Discount Coach- someone who is signed up as a coach simply for the discount. Other than paying the monthly business fees there are no requirements. You can be a Beachbody Coach strictly for the discount. It’s sort of like when you sign-up as a “member” or “preferred client” with companies like Young Living or Arbonne. Learn more about the coach discount here.
- Hobby Coach- someone who enjoys the products and earns a little extra income by signing up family and friends. Hobby Coaches usually start as Discount Coaches and end up earning money when friends & family start asking what they’ve been doing to improve their health.
- Full Time Coach– someone who is building a business through selling products and growing a team of coaches.
What Does A Beachbody Coach Do?
The range of what Beachbody coaches do varies from person to person. On a basic level, coaches connect with others, help hold them accountable, answer questions and provide encouragement.
Coaches may do this through one on one calls or groups. Some coaches run challenge groups where people can share their workouts, meals, progress and cheer each other on.
Coaches who are building their business may focus on leading and training members of their team.
Some of the expectations of a Beachbody coach include:
- Being proof the products work- following a fitness program and nutrition plan, drinking Shakeology or using the Performance line.
- Personal Development- reading or listening to books, podcasts and other training
- Inviting- invite others to join you on your health & fitness journey
How you do these things is totally up to you.
Coach Training
Beachbody has an extensive library of training resources available for coaches. Different teams also host team calls and training sessions.
The annual Coach Summit hosted by Beachbody features training sessions. Quarterly Super Saturday events are also held across the country and in recent years virtually. Beachbody hosts a weekly “Wake-Up Call” filled with recognition, product updates, training and stories from coaches.
You can choose to participate in as much or as little training as you would like.
Do You Get Paid to be a Beachbody Coach?
Yes, Beachbody coaches have the ability to earn income* in a variety of ways. How much depends on your efforts.
*Team Beachbody® does not guarantee any level of success or income from the Team Beachbody Coach Opportunity. Each Coach’s income depends on his or her own efforts, diligence, and skill. How Beachbody Coaches Earn Money
There are four different ways coaches earn money*:
- Commissions- coaches earn up to 35% commission on Challenge Packs, 40% on Beachbody On Demand Memberships and 25% on other retail purchases.
- Team Cycle Bonus- earn from sales of your entire downline
- Matching Bonus- earn 5% or 10% on your personally sponsored coaches’ Team Cycle Bonus
- Star Diamond Bonus- earn quarterly bonuses based on rank
Is Beachbody Coach a Pyramid Scheme
You might have noticed some terms above like downline and the image of a pyramid may have popped into your head. I can assure you Beachbody is not a pyramid scheme. Those are illegal.
According to the New York Attorney General’s website, “A pyramid scheme is a fraudulent system of making money based on recruiting an ever-increasing number of investors.”
Beachbody is a multi-level marketing organization. Multi-level marketing or network marketing is a marketing strategy in which the sales force is compensated not only for sales they personally generate, but also for the sales of others they recruit. This creates a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation.
Beachbody Coaches do not get paid for recruiting other coaches.
Coaches are not required to purchase product for distribution.
In a pyramid scheme those at the top make the most money. With the Beachbody compensation plan it is possible to make more money than your upline coaches.
DO BEACHBODY COACHES GET A DISCOUNT?
Yes! Beachbody Coaches do get a discount. As a Beachbody Coach you get a discount on Shakeology as well as other Beachbody products and apparel. Learn more about the Coach Discount here.
Beachbody Coach Rewards
Beachbody does a fantastic job of recognizing and rewarding their coaches. Through the Success Club Rewards Program coaches can earn things like hats, shirts, backpacks, sunglasses and Theraguns. There is also an annual Success Club Trip to places like Mexico and the Dominican Republic. I am very excited to have earned a spot on the Success Club Trip this year.
Other fun contests are held throughout the year to motivate and incentivize coaches. I won $500 just for submitting my daily activity tracker.

My Coaching Story

I’ve been using Beachbody programs & products since 2011. I first signed up as a Coach just for the discount on Shakeology and other products.
Then in 2015 I started my blog. I started adding my coach link to my fitness program reviews. I treated Beachbody more like an affiliate program. If someone purchased a Beachbody membership or products through my link I made a little money. I wasn’t really actively coaching or running groups.
Along the way I started becoming more of a Coach to those who signed up for Beachbody through me. I began doing one-on-one calls with people and forming groups. I had no idea what I was doing at first. But I was really enjoying meeting new people and helping them work toward their goals.
I’ve got to tell you that when someone tells me that something I shared or the support of a group I created helped them it fills me up and makes me feel so purposeful.
My goal is to help people improve their health because I believe when you’re healthier you’re happier. And when you’re happier you’re kinder to those around you. It’s a total ripple effect.
When the pandemic hit in 2020 and I was furloughed for three months my business took off. I was able to see the potential of the business opportunity and really dive in to the training & personal development tools Beachbody provides.
Before I was hesitant to share the business but now I’m ready to help others discover what I’ve discovered through coaching which is a greater sense of community & purpose.
When I started diving into the business more I worried there would be pressures put on me to do things a certain way. What I’ve found is that Beachbody & the team I am part of really just wants you to do you. They provide all the tools & support and you choose how to use them.
