What Is Ultimate Portion Fix
First, a quick overview of Ultimate Portion Fix . It’s a nutrition program available through Beachbody On Demand, Beachbody’s on-line streaming fitness service (Learn everything you need to know about Beachbody On Demand here). Ultimate Portion Fix is an expansion of Autumn Calabrese’s color coded, portion-control container system from 21 Day Fix. The program teaches you how to develop healthy eating habits for life while still enjoying your favorite foods like cookies & wine.

Timed Nutrition Eating Plan
Building on the Foundational Fix eating plan, Timed Nutrition helps you fuel your body like an athlete. It’s a more dialed in, detailed form of balanced macronutrients. No treats on this plan.
If you’re looking for something to tell you exactly what to eat and when this is the plan for you. I struggle with meal planning by containers. My brain just doesn’t work that way. So knowing exactly what containers should go together helps me tremendously.
Timed-Nutrition focuses on:
- When you eat
- What you eat
- How containers are paired together
This eating plan is meant to be used with an exercise program. But the Portion Fix program materials also include instructions on following Timed Nutrition if you are not working out. For those that are doing an exercise program the eating plan revolves around your Workout Block.
The Workout Block is a four hour time period built around your workout time. It includes a pre-workout meal and post-workout meal. All other meals are planned around the Workout Block so knowing when you are going to workout is important when following Timed Nutrition.
Your pre-workout meal helps fuel your body for maximum performance during your workout. You should eat your pre-workout meal about an hour and half before your workout. If you workout in the early morning hours you can always leave less time between eating and working out. Everybody’s digestion is different and you may not need all that time.
If you are using Beachbody Supplements you will take Energize about 30 minutes before your workout. Following your workout you get a serving of fruit and Beachbody Recover. You do not have to use supplements to follow Timed Nutrition.
Your post-workout meal is eaten about an hour and half following your workout. It gives your body the nutrients it needs to refuel.
The Timed Nutrition eating plan includes 3 other meals outside your workout block. The timing of these meals will depend on your workout time. No matter what time of day you choose to workout you will be eating about every 2-3 hours. When you first start with Timed Nutrition I highly suggest putting your meal times in your calendar. This will help you stay on track with your timed nutrition. After a while eating on the Timed Nutrition plan will become a habit and your body will tell you when it’s time to eat.
Instead of mixing and matching containers as you wish, the Timed Nutrition eating plan pairs them up for you. This ensures you get balanced macro nutrients at every meal. While this might sound restrictive I actually find it quite helpful. Knowing what containers go together makes meal planning so much easier to me. You don’t have to worry if you are doing it right. It’s all laid out for you.
