For this week’s menu I took inspiration from one of the resources in the Healthy Meal Planning Bundle. It’s also filled with some of my son’s favorite meals. Check out this week’s menu and learn how use meal plan resources to keep your meal planning interesting.
Meal Plan Resources
If you’ve been meal planning for awhile chances are you’ve fallen into a rut at one time or another. When you find yourself eating the same thing over and over sticking with your meal plan can be difficult. Plus, sitting down to plan out your meals can become a pain in the rear.
But, if you’ve got a variety of resources on hand you can easily mix things up and keep your meal plans interesting with little effort.
Unfortunately, the Healthy Meal Planning Bundle in this week’s live meal planning video is no longer available. However, you can still purchase my Color Combo Meal Cards. The Color Combo Meal Cards are a great resource to help you mix things up and stick with your containers.
Here are some other meal plan resource ideas:
- Weekly Meal Plans archive
- Cook Books (like Fixate)
- Favorite Recipe Blogs (I love Confessions of a Fit Foodie)
- Photos of your own meals
Not all of the resources you find may fit with your eating plan. But seeing a delicious meal idea on Instagram can spark an idea and help you recall a meal or recipe that does fit with your containers.
Figuring out how recipes break down into containers isn’t too difficult. For example, I picked out an air fryer catfish dish from Cooking Light. Looking at the ingredient list (green beans, catfish, mayo, etc) I can see that the recipe will equal a red, green and tsp. Don’t get caught up in trying to be too exact with the containers. You can reference similar Fixate recipes for help in breaking non-Fixate recipes into containers. For things like casseroles take the ingredients and divide them by the portion size to determine container amounts.
