I am always getting requests for family friendly healthy meals. This week’s meal plan features my husband & 12 year old son’s favorite meals. Check out what is on this week’s menu and see how to make your family’s favorite meals a little bit healthier. It’s easier than you think.
Healthy Family Favorites
If you’re trying to lose weight you may think typical family favorites like pasta and tacos are off limits. The good news is that’s just not true. With a few simple tweaks you can make meals your family loves into healthy dishes.
Here are a few examples:
- Swap white spaghetti or macaroni with whole wheat pasta
- Select sauces with less than 8 grams of sugar or no-added sugar
- Choose lean ground meats (90/10) instead of fattier versions
- Make regular taco shells for your family and use lettuce wraps or corn tortillas for yourself
- Choose air-fried chicken nuggets instead of regular deep-fried
Your family may not even notice. The first time I subbed in Cauliflower rice for regular rice my son & husband couldn’t even tell. Gradual changes usually go over better than drastic ones.
