You might think that if you’re following a nutrition plan you have to “cheat” or go off plan when it comes to special occasions. But with a healthy eating plan like Portion Fix you can enjoy the foods you love and still stay on plan no matter what the occasion. Check out what is on this week’s meal plan and what we’ll be eating for Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s Day.
When you’re trying to stick with a healthy eating plan there’s always some sort of holiday or special occasion that is going to come up. But that doesn’t mean you have to go off plan. Especially with a nutrition plan like Portion Fix where you’re allowed to have treats like wine & chocolate.
Now, do you always have to stick 100% on plan? Of course not. But if you’ve got goals you want to reach and want to stay on plan it’s totally doable.
The key for staying on plan during special occasions is planning ahead and portion control. You can eat a slice or two of pizza and stay on plan. You can not eat a half or whole pizza and stay on plan.
My family decided on pizza for Super Bowl Sunday. I plan to have a slice or two of pizza and a side salad to round out my meal.
For Valentine’s Day we’re having steak with mushrooms, asparagus and baked potatoes. I will also be making a chocolate fondue with strawberries. If you’re following Portion Fix I would count the fondue as a yellow. If I really wanted to stay on plan I could choose not to eat one of my yellow containers earlier in the day and save it for dessert along with a purple container for the strawberries.
It’s really that simple. Plan ahead. Think about what you’ll be having throughout the day. Enjoy those treats without over-indulging. If you do go over-board, tomorrow is a new day. Go back to your plan and leave the past in the past.
