When you think of healthy eating what comes to mind? Boring salads or chicken breast on repeat? I’m here to tell you eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring. Check out some ideas for adding variety to your meal plan and what is on this week’s menu.

Adding Variety
If you’ve searched for meal prep ideas you’ve likely come across the pictures of identical meals packed neatly into meal prep containers. Some people are absolutely okay with eating the same thing every single day. I am not! I like a little variety in my meals.
One way I add variety to my meals is by choosing a different protein for each meal (poultry, beef, seafood). For example, on Monday I’ve got Teriyaki Salmon on the menu (seafood), Tuesday I went with Chicken Tortilla Soup (poultry), and Wednesday Fixate Beef Macaroni (beef).
I created my Color Combo Meal Cards using this idea.
You can add variety by protein types or giving each night of the week a theme. Here are some theme night ideas:
Meal Plan Theme Ideas:
- Slow Cooker Sunday
- Meatless Monday
- Taco Tuesday
- Pasta Wednesdays
- Instant Pot Thursdays
- Fish Fridays
- Sandwich Saturdays
Yes, tacos and pasta can still be part of a healthy meal plan. Healthy doesn’t mean bland or boring. I always suggest starting with the foods you (and your family) normally eat and making little tweaks to make those meals a little healthier. For example, swap out whole wheat pasta for regular white pasta.
