I’ve been meal planning for a very long time. But I still have those times where I sit down and draw a total blank. This week I’m talking about the meal plan tools I use. Check out what is on this week’s meal plan.

Meal Plan Tools
It happens to all of us. We sit down to meal plan and can’t think of a single thing to eat. Nothing sounds appetizing. What do people even eat? What is food?
There are a few meal plan tools I depend on when I’m drawing a blank on what to put on the menu.
- Old meal plans. I’ve been meal planning for many years now. All those meal plans are saved on my computer and here in the What’s Working Here Meal Plan Archive. When I’m not sure what to put on the menu I’ll pop open a meal plan from the same month but a different year.
- Meal Photos. Yes, as a blogger that blogs about food I take a picture of pretty much everything I eat. At least the first time. I have a folder on my computer labeled “menu pics”. When I’m not feeling inspired I’ll scroll through the pictures to see what jumps out at me.
- Cookbooks. When you’re tired of always eating the same old thing flipping through a good cookbook can bring you just the inspiration you need. I highly recommend the Fixate Cookbooks.
- Color Combo Meal Cards. When I was following the 80 Day Obsession Meal Plan I wanted a way to quickly and easily find meals that fit my containers. That’s when I created my Color Combo Meal Cards. The different color protein labels help me add some variety to my meal planning. I still use them even-though I’m not currently following Timed Nutrition.
