I’m using mostly what I’ve got on hand to meal plan this week. See what’s on this week’s menu and how I use a food inventory list to save money and reduce waste.
Food Inventory
About every three months or so I like to take a little food inventory. It’s quite simple to do.
First, get out a pen & paper. I like to use the Grocery List Template from Ultimate Portion Fix. Then go through your fridge, freeze and pantry writing down everything you have on hand.
There are various reasons we end up with extra food. A recipe may make a large amount of food so I freeze the excess leftovers. Life gets busy or I’m too tired to cook leaving ingredients unused.
Food doesn’t last forever, even in the freezer so it’s important to go in and see what you’ve got so you can use it before it goes bad. Eating what you’ve got will help you save money and reduce food waste.
