Sticking with Timed Nutrition as I move into week 3 of 21 Day Fix Real Time. Check out what’s on this week’s menu and why you should still be creating a meal plan during these crazy times.
Why Meal Plan
We are living through some unprecedented and crazy times right now. The stuff you read about in history books, you’re living it. We’re being told to stay home and socially distance ourselves from others, grocery store shelves are bare, businesses are closing and people are losing their jobs.
While the whole world is going crazy and no one knows when it will all end planning seems like a pointless activity. But I still believe planning, especially meal planning is still important, even during these times that we are in.
There are a number of reasons why you should continue (or start) meal planning:
- It gives you a starting point. You may not be able to find everything on your list when you head to the store. But a meal plan gives you a place to start. Maybe you need to swap out some items and eat peppers with your hummus instead of carrots. That’s an easy on the spot change.
- It’s one less thing to worry about. There is not a person in this world right now that hasn’t felt some sort of stress over this pandemic. Having a plan for what you’re going to eat will give you one less thing to stress about. Spend a little time at the beginning of the week planning, shopping and making adjustments. Then the rest of the week you have one less thing to worry about.
- It helps you stay on track. We’ve all probably done some stress eating lately. I’ve also seen a number of people say now that they’re working from home they find themselves in the kitchen snacking most of the day. Following your meal plan will help you stay on track and stay full so you’re more likely to stay out of the kitchen. Also, if you only buy what’s on your plan you won’t have the junk food around to tempt you.
- It gives you a sense of control. There are a lot of things we don’t have control over right now. With a meal plan you can still be in control of how you’re fueling your body. Make your plan, do your shopping and then make adjustments to your plan as needed. Then for the rest of the week you’ll know exactly what you’re going to eat.
