For this week’s menu I got a little help from my family. I took down notes during the week and added their requests to the menu. It’s also the first week of the Healthy Tweaks Challenge. You might notice a few more vegetables on the menu this week.
Family input
Out of ideas for what to make for dinner? Ask your family.
Now, you can’t ask your family when you sit down to write out your menu. In my experience when I ask my family what they want on the menu I get awesome answers like: Food. Really, you want food? Great answer.
Instead I find it’s better to bring up this topic throughout the week. Maybe while we’re sitting down eating dinner they’ll mention a similar meal they enjoyed. Or a commercial might come on that gets us talking about favorite meals.
Write those ideas down. Because if you’re like me when you sit down ready to meal plan you’ll forget it all.
This week my son mentioned he wanted tamales. Noted and on this week’s menu.
We’ve also seen the Olive Garden commercial one too many times lately. Which got us talking about our favorite old school pasta dishes. My husband’s favorite: Chicken Alfredo.
I’ve never made Chicken Alfredo at home because my stomach just can’t handle it. But, I decided to add it to the menu this week and just make a substitution for myself. I plan to set aside some pasta and top it with tomato basil sauce.
More Veggies Please
We’re kicking off the Healthy Tweaks Challenge this week! It’s a 4 week challenge aimed at helping you make small changes that will build healthy habits. A great way to get a jump start on your New Year goals.
The first week of the challenge has you eating more- veggies that is! So in this week’s menu I’m sneaking in vegetables any way I can. I’m adding them to smoothies and having them as snacks.
What is your favorite way to eat vegetables?
