Meal planning is something no one really wants to do but you’re so glad when it’s done. Check out what is on my meal plan this week and why it’s important to have a plan.

Why Meal Plan
I discovered many years ago when I first got married just how important it is to meal plan. My husband and I would come home from work and have the same conversation every night.
“What do you want for dinner?”
“I don’t know, what do you want?”
“Doesn’t matter to me.”
“You decide.”
“I chose last time.”
Does this conversation sound familiar? It usually ended with us eating a bowl of cereal for dinner. Until I started planning out our meals.
Here are a few reasons why meal planning is important:
- It helps you maintain good nutrition. I’m not sure if I would eat nearly the amount of vegetables and protein my body needs if I didn’t plan for them. If you’re following a nutrition plan like Portion Fix or 2B Mindset writing out your meal plan will help you stay on track and get all your nutrients in.
- It’s one less thing to worry about. There are so many decisions we have to make all day every day. Having a plan for what you’re going to eat will give you one less thing to think about. Sit down once a week to make a plan, then the rest of the week you have one less thing to think about.
- It gives you a sense of control. With a meal plan you can be in control of how you’re fueling your body. Make your plan, do your shopping and then make adjustments to your plan as needed. Then for the rest of the week you’ll know exactly what you’re going to eat.
- It saves on grocery trips. When you’ve planned out your meals for the week you can make one trip to the grocery store instead of several random mid-week trips.
