This week’s menu contains some of my family’s favorite healthy meals. I like to ask my son and husband what they want on the menu. It makes meal planning easier for me. Also, I know there is at least one night during the week I don’t have to hear, “I’m not eating that.”
Making Family Favorites Healthy
My son is a typical nine year old boy so no matter what I say we are having for dinner his first reaction is always disgust, even when it’s something I know he likes. He’s a pretty good eater though and there are some tricks we’ve employed along the way to make sure he eats what we eat for the most part. Check out my post on How to Get Kids To Eat Healthy and hang up your short order cook hat.
You can also make your child’s favorite meals a little healthier too. Simple tweaks like making macaroni and cheese with whole wheat pasta can make a positive nutrient difference. Your child may not even notice. The first time I subbed in Cauliflower rice for regular rice my son & husband couldn’t even tell. Gradual changes usually go over better than drastic ones.
