Staying on track during the holidays is much easier when you meal plan. See what’s on my meal plan this week and why holiday meal planning is so important.
Holiday Meal Planning
The holidays are such a busy time of year. Which is why it is so important to meal plan.
Planning your meals gives you one less thing to worry about. Plus, when you have a plan to follow you’re much more likely to stick with healthier choices instead of last minute trips through the drive-thru.
Be sure to write down any events or special meals so you can plan around them. If you know you’ll be out all day shopping, plan a slow-cooker meal that can be cooking while you are away. Slow cooker meals are also great for those days when you’ve got tons to do around the house like wrapping and cleaning.
If you’re trying to stick with your Portion Fix meal plan on holidays, map out which containers you think you’ll eat during the holiday meal. You can even ask the host what they plan to serve. If necessary offer to bring a salad or vegetable dish to get your greens in. Then spread out your remaining containers over the rest of the day.
Don’t worry if you go off plan. Enjoy your holiday meal and get back on track the next day. To be honest I usually eat whatever I want during my family’s Christmas gathering which includes drinks, appetizers, dinner and desserts.
