This week’s meal plan came together pretty quickly. See how I plan my meals following Portion Fix in under 20 minutes a week.
Quick Meal Planning
Meal planning does not need to be time consuming to be effective. Yes, in the beginning it may take some time. But once you find what works for you, planning your meals for the week should take less than 30 minutes.
The key to quick meal planning is putting a system in place and having tools to give you fresh meal ideas.
If you’re following the Portion Fix container system, you’ll want to start with a meal plan template. The template gives you a starting point. For those following Foundational Fix, you can then move your containers around as you wish.
You can find meal plan templates for all plans (A-F) in my FREE Resource Library. I’ve also got meal plan templates for 80 Day Obsession/Timed Nutrition, including morning, noon & night workouts.
The system I use for meal planning is starting with my meal plan template and then filling it in like this:
- Meal 1: I drink my Shakeology with fruit & sometimes veggies blended in
- Meal 2: I pick two for the week and alternate them
- Meal 3: Leftovers for lunch from dinner the night before
- Meal 4: I pick two for the week and alternate them
- Meal 5: I pick a different dinner meal for four nights of the week, we have a leftover night and we eat out or order in on Friday & Saturday
Some of the tools I use for meal ideas are the Fixate Cookbooks and my Color Combo Meal Cards. I created the Color Combo Meal Cards to help me easily meal plan while following 80 Day Obsession Timed Nutrition. The cards list meal ideas by certain color combinations, like Red, Yellow & Green. Main courses are color coded by protein to help you mix things up.
