What Is Ultimate Portion Fix
First, a quick overview of Ultimate Portion Fix . It’s a nutrition program available through Beachbody On Demand, Beachbody’s on-line streaming fitness service (Learn everything you need to know about Beachbody On Demand here). Ultimate Portion Fix is an expansion of Autumn Calabrese’s color coded, portion-control container system from 21 Day Fix. The program teaches you how to develop healthy eating habits for life while still enjoying your favorite foods like cookies & wine.

Foundational Fix Eating Plan
If you’re just starting out with Portion Fix the Foundational Fix path is where you will want to start. It gives you the most freedom and flexibility and a baseline of knowledge to work from. The other two paths, Timed-Nutrition & Carb-Cycling, are built on Foundational Fix.
Calorie Bracket
With Foundational Fix you will calculate your calorie bracket to determine your eating plan and container counts. Your calculation will depend on whether or not you are working out and at what intensity.
If you are following a Beachbody fitness program with portion control containers like 21 Day Fix, 80 Day Obsession, LIIFT4 or Transform :20 use the formula found in your program’s nutrition guide to find your calorie bracket and eating plan.
If you’ve got more than 5 lbs to lose you’ll calculate a weight loss calorie deficit. Otherwise you will eat in what is referred to as maintenance. At some point your body no longer needs to be at a deficit and eating extra calories in maintenance will allow your body to let go of that last little bit of weight. If you’re not giving your body enough calories it will hold on to everything you are giving it and you won’t reach your goal.
Your calorie bracket will determine your eating plan. Portion plans range from Plan A-F. Each plan includes a different number of color coded portion containers:
- Green- Vegetables
- Purple- Fruits
- Red- Proteins
- Yellow- Carbs
- Blue- Healthy Fats
- Orange- Seeds & Dressings
- TSP- Oils & Nut Butters
You should recalculate your calorie bracket every 30 days.
Flexibility & Freedom
Once you find your eating plan you have complete control over when you use your containers throughout the day and how you mix and match them. This makes trying new recipes from the FIXATE Cookbooks really easy. Start with the container counts for the recipe you want use and then fill in containers for the rest of your day.
If you have Beachbody On Demand then you have access to the original FIXATE cookbook under the nutrition tab. You can also purchase the original FIXATE cookbook through Beachbody or Amazon. The FIXATE2 Cookbook is included with the Ultimate Portion Fix program. You can now also purchase FIXATE2 through Beachbody.
There are a couple of suggested parameters. You are encouraged to pair at least 2 or more containers at each meal. For example, the blue & orange containers (healthy fats) are meant to be eaten with other containers to help with nutrient absorption. Some vitamins are fat-soluble and need fats to be absorbed by the body. You should also eat about every 2 to 3 hours.
Treats
The Foundational Fix eating plan allows you to still enjoy your favorite foods with “treat-swaps”. Two to three times a week you can substitute one of your yellow (carb) containers for treats like chocolate, chips or cookies. Maybe a chocolate chip cookie! (lol! Just noticed the list I was making made an actual treat.) You can even have a glass of wine or a cocktail. You don’t have to pass up that piece of wedding or birthday cake. By planning ahead you can have your cake and still stay on track.
Meal Plan Templates
Planning is essential and will make following the portion fix eating plan easy. I like to use a meal plan template to make sure I’ve planned my meals to meet my container counts.
You can access FREE Meal Plan Templates for Foundational Fix in my resource library. I’ve given you a starting point but remember you have the freedom to mix and match containers as you wish. The templates are completely editable so you can move around and change the container colors however you want. Get the password for the free library by subscribing at the bottom of this post.
