It’s almost turkey time! On this month’s meal plan I’ve got turkey for you a couple of different ways- non-traditional, traditional & leftovers. But before you gobble till you wobble there’s some non-turkey meal ideas as well.
Healthy Holiday Snacks
One of the best ways to avoid over-eating during the holidays is to have some healthy snacks before the big meal. With the focus on the main feast it’s something that usually gets overlooked. I’ve been guilty of not having anything suitable to set out for guests to nibble on. Hostess fail!
Planning snacks for guests doesn’t mean you have to go off your eating plan. You can still serve healthy snacks that fit with your meal plan. This month’s meal plan is based on Portion Fix Meal Plan B. It is entirely possible to stay on track with your Portion Fix meal plan during the holidays. Is it okay if you don’t? Absolutely! It’s one day. Enjoy it and get back on track the next day.
The snacks don’t have to be overly complicated. Get fancy with an artistically designed charcuterie board if that’s your thing or just grab a party tray from the grocery store.
Here are a few ideas for easy snacks to have on hand if you’re expecting guests:
- Fruit- berries, grapes, melon, pineapple
- Veggies & Dip- mini carrots, grape tomatoes, celery sticks, jicama sticks
- Cheese- cubes or slices
- Nuts- Cashews, Almonds, Pecans
These are all healthy snack ideas that will keep you fueled and save those yellow containers for drinks & desserts.
