This week we’re sending my son to camp and celebrating my husband’s birthday with a little getaway. Which means a lot of eating out. I’ve got a few tips to help you stay on track while eating out on 80 Day Obsession.
Eating Out on 80 Day Obsession
Yes, you can eat out on 80 Day Obsession! It just takes a little thought. Before you head to the restaurant check what containers you have for your meal. Then try to find healthy options that fit them. You may even want to check out a restaurant’s menu on-line before you head out.
Don’t be afraid to make special requests to suit your needs. It’s your food and there’s nothing wrong with asking for what you want.
Also, be aware of portion sizes. A salad at a restaurant usually has way more food than your container counts. I’m not suggesting you whip out your containers at a restaurant, although you could. You can eyeball your portion sizes. The children’s menu usually has the best portion sizes. You could also share a meal or just put any excess food in a to-go container for another meal or snack.
Some of my favorite things to eat out:
- Mexican restaurant: Chicken Fajitas with bell peppers & corn tortillas
- Chick-Fil-A: Grilled Chicken Wrap w/ Honey Mustard – I usually ask for no cheese
- Panera: Chicken Soba Noodle Bowl -Beware of the high sodium content
- BBQ Restaurant: Smoked Turkey Breast, Green Beans, Sweet Potato
Trying New Recipes
While we will be doing a bit of eating out we are also trying some new recipes this week. Which means you’ll definitely want to subscribe to my weekly newsletter to see how they turned out.
Since my son will be at camp I tried to pick a few things I thought he wouldn’t like. For the most part we make him eat whatever we eat- See my tricks for getting him to eat what we do here.
