It’s another week of business travel for me so this week’s menu is pretty simple. But hopefully it shows you the importance of menu planning around your schedule.
Menu Planning Around Your Schedule
Sometimes we can have the best intentions of planning out healthy meals for our family. But all that thoughtful planning can be a huge waste of time if you’re not menu planning around your schedule.
First of all, if you’re not aware of the time you’ve got to prepare your meal you may select something that doesn’t fit into your schedule. Say you have a late meeting or are running around to practices and after school activities, chances are that delicious 45 minute meal just isn’t going to make it on your dinner table. You’ll notice meals that take a bit longer to cook and prepare usually get made on Sunday nights at our house.
Second, not planning meals around your schedule can lead to food waste. If you don’t have time to prepare the meals you’ve selected those ingredients will probably end up going bad and being tossed out. Wasting food makes me feel so guilty.
Third, buying food you don’t have time to cook is a waste of time and money. It also leads to that last minute stress of wondering what you are going to feed your family.
These are some of the many reasons why the first thing I do when I menu plan is add our activities to the menu. You can learn more about how you can meal plan in this post on Menu Planning In 3 Easy Steps and be sure to subscribe below so I can help you with Meal Planning Ideas each week.
