Happy Thanksgiving Week! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already here. I love this time of year. If I could just find a way to slow time down.
The Opposite of Thanksgiving
I like to plan meals leading up to Thanksgiving that are very different than what we will eat for the big day. So this week I’ve got Fish Tostadas and a simple Sausage Gumbo on the menu.
Since we will be going out of town I’ve got leftovers on the menu Wednesday. This way we can clean out the fridge before we head out of town. Check out some of the other (Weird) Things I do Before Vacation.
Thanksgiving Traditions
I love planning special holiday meals and creating new family traditions. For breakfast I’m trying out some cute Cinnamon Roll Turkeys I found on Pinterest over at Eat Drink and Save Money. Bacon & Cinnamon rolls, I have a feeling these will be a hit!
I’ll be making the Autumn Snack Mix I shared with you last week to snack on in the car and before our feast.
My family usually has our Thanksgiving feast on Friday. It has become a tradition that on Thursday we have Turkey Burgers. Kind of a quasi Thanksgiving meal. I like to top my turkey burger with lettuce and cranberry sauce.
For our Thanksgiving feast I’ve taken on making my Grandmother’s Chicken & Dressing and homemade gravy. This will be our first Thanksgiving without my Grandmother, which makes me sad. But, I’m so thankful for the time I was able to spend learning to cook from her all those years.
I am also making my traditional Cinnamon Streusel-Topped Pumpkin Pie from Cooking Light. It is delicious! And you don’t have to feel guilty eating it because it’s Cooking Light 🙂
What are your traditional Thanksgiving dishes?
