My sister is expecting a baby girl this Summer! I couldn’t be more excited for her. Watch out Target girls section here I come! She’s been keeping me busy the last few years planning parties for her Bridal Shower and my nephew’s Boy Baby Shower. The good news is I love to plan parties, especially for someone as special to me as my sister. I couldn’t wait to throw a girly baby shower in her honor. And since I already had a boy baby shower I came up with all new girl baby shower ideas, including unique game printables you can download.
Girl Baby Shower Ideas
My sister’s girl baby shower had a wildflower theme, very similar to her Bridal Shower. I was even able to re-use some of those decorations.
Welcome & Guestbook
A cute welcome sign from ceremoniaGlam on Etsy welcomes guests and lets them know they are at the right place. I printed and mounted the sign on a framed chalkboard and set it outside my front door.
“Are You My Mother” by Dr. Suess makes the perfect baby shower guest book. Encourage guests to pick a page and write a message for the baby.
The picture frame on the entry table contains the word search my sister created to reveal the baby’s name. How creative is she?
Decor
If you’re throwing a baby shower for a friend or family member be sure to take a look at their Pinterest boards. I spied on my sister’s Pinterest board and saw she saved a framed bow holder and flower initial to her baby board. They make great shower decor and can be used in the baby’s nursery too!
Following instructions from The Frugal Homemaker I created the bow holder. It was fairly simply to make. I just used a staple gun to attach the chicken wire to the back of a frame.
This pin from Etsy shop BegoniaRoseCo inspired the floral initial. I bought the letter from At Home and followed the directions by The Stonybrook House to create my own.
Wildflowers in mason jars add a nice girly touch. My nail lady even created wildflower nails perfect for the baby shower.
These decorations were recycled from my sister’s Bridal Shower. We made the paper flowers and ribbon banner.
Food & Drinks
Since I held the shower in the afternoon I kept the food pretty simple with more of a tea party theme.
Girl Baby Shower Menu
- Chicken Salad Sandwiches on Croissants
- English Cucumber & Dill Tea Sandwiches
- Strawberry Spinach Salad with Almonds
- Veggie Tray
- Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Pita Chips
Drinks included some fun pink Italian sodas I found at HEB, water infused with strawberries & mint and a raspberry sherbet punch.
And of course there was cake!
I ordered this fun cake topper off Amazon from Sugar Plum Creations. A few pink flowers add a colorful girly touch. If you’re not using edible flowers be sure to wash the flowers really well and put a layer of wax paper between the flowers and cake.
Activities & Games
Since this is my sister’s first baby girl I came up with girl-themed activities and games.
Bow & Headband Making
Set up a table where guests can make their own bows and headbands for the baby. It’s fun to see the creativity of your guests. After they’ve finished their creations display them on the bow holder.
Bow & Headband Making Station Supplies:
- Ribbon
- Fabric Scraps
- Hot Glue Guns
- Glue Sticks
- Scissors
- Clips
- Elastic
Sugar & Spice Game
Everyone knows that little girls are made with sugar, spice & everything nice and that’s why I came up with the game. To set up the game, first gather a variety of spices. I chose these Simply Balanced spices in glass jars from Target. Second, assign each spice a number and write it down as your answer key. Then, cover the labels on the spice jars. I used brown kraft paper. Next, number each spice to match your answer key.
To play, give each guest a pencil and game sheet. These pink & purple pencils from Target are perfect for a girl baby shower- and they come pre-sharpened. Then, have guests smell, taste and write down their guesses for each numbered spice.
Everyone had a good time trying to guess correctly. I stuck with spices that I regularly use. But, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Once everyone recorded their guesses I revealed the answers. No one guessed them all correctly. Guests with the most correct guesses were awarded a cute pink measuring cup & spoon set. I found the measuring cup & spoon set at Target and tied a tulle ribbon around the handle.

Hairdo Game
The next game we played was the Hairdo Game I created. I purchased an Our Generation Doll from Target because they have great hair to play with. The doll’s hair came styled in a bun so I combed it out before the shower. I also put together a little box with a comb, pony tail holders and bobby pins.
To play, guests pull a Hairdo Game Card from the stack. Then, they style the doll’s hair according to what is on the back of the card. Have the mom-to-be guess the hairstyle.
If my sister guessed the hairdo correctly the guest was rewarded with a fun hair tie. I found these cute La-ta-da Tassel Hair Ties at Target. I like how they double as bracelets in case you have guests with short hair who wouldn’t really find a hair tie useful.
Gifts & Cake
After we played games we served cake while my sister opened gifts. Everyone loves to ooh & ahh over all things baby.
Shower Favors
Guests were given Sweet Pea Hand Sanitizer with a sweet little tag thanking them for coming to the shower as parting favors. I ordered the tags off Amazon from Chelsea Kendoll.
It was a fun day showering my sister with love and gifts for her new baby girl. You can find more baby shower ideas on my Baby Shower Pinterest Board.
