My sister is expecting a baby boy this Spring! I couldn’t be more excited for her. If you follow my blog you’re probably starting to feel like you know her yourself. She’s been featured in my Stitch Fix Reviews (most recently a Maternity Fix) and you got to see all the details of her Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party. She’s pretty special to me and I couldn’t wait to throw a baby shower in her honor. I’m sharing the boy baby shower ideas we used including decor, food and games.
Boy Baby Shower Ideas
The theme for the baby shower was shades of blue since my sister is not really into themes.
Decor
My sister found this adorable baby sock banner idea on Pinterest from WooHome. Simply clip baby socks to a cotton rope. I purchased the socks she had on her registry and some small wooden clothes pins and cotton rope from Michaels to hang them up on. So cute, easy and a decoration you can use.
Blue Hydrangeas add the perfect floral touch.
A paper tassel garland dresses up the drink table. I found this one on clearance at Target in different shades of blue. Use washi tape to decorate clear punch cups. I used this light blue washi tape. It also makes a great space for people to write their names on their cups.
My sister also found this cute idea for bow tie napkins on Pinterest. I’ll admit I struggled a little bit trying to figure out how to make them. At first I tried to use decorative tape but realized the napkins tore when you tried to open and use them. Then I got some ribbon and used double sided tape but the tape didn’t hold very well. For best results use a small piece of scotch tape to hold the ribbon together.
Food
Keep the food pretty simple.
- A Veggie Tray
- Green and Red Grapes with White and Yellow Cheddar Cheese
- Avocado Basil Pasta Salad with Bacon
My favorite part of the spread was the idea I had for a “Cravings Bar”.
When you’re pregnant everyone always wants to know what cravings you’re having. What better way to let people know then to share those foods with them. So I asked my sister what her cravings were: Soft Tacos from Taco Bell, Strawberries, Chocolate Lovers Break and Bake Cookies and Baby Dill Pickles. Then put the items together on a tray labeled “Cravings Bar”. It was a fun addition and something I’m sure most people were not expecting.
And of course there was cake!
Games
When it came time for games I set them up around the room and let people complete them at their own pace. Once everyone finished we went over the answers together as a group.
How Many Candies
We did the How Many Candies in the Baby Bottle Game. I found the cutest printables from Studio 20 Designs on Etsy.
Guess the Sweet Mess Diaper Game
The Guess the Sweet Mess Game was fun to put together. I used printables from Studio20Designs on Etsy. I found this fun pre-cut fabric at Michaels and downloaded a doll diaper pattern from Happy Together I found on Pinterest to make the fabric into diapers.
Melt pieces of different candy bars and placed them in the diapers.
It was amusing to watch guests take a peek into the dirty diapers, give them a sniff and try to figure out what candy was inside.
Guess the Baby FoodAnother sensory game we played was Guess the Baby Food. Remove the labels from the baby food jars, decorate them with fun tape and label them with a number. On the tray with the baby food be sure to include tasting spoons. I used printables from PaperCleverParty for guests to record their answers on. I picked up the blue stripe and turquoise chevron pencils from Target. They fit perfectly with the shades of blue theme.
It was fun to watch people sniff, taste and try to figure out what each one was.
How Big is Mommy’s Belly
For the How Big is Mommy’s Belly game I found some colorful yarn at Michaels and placed it in a basket with the printables from Studio20Designs on Etsy.
The fun part of this game is seeing everyone’s guesses. It’s also a great game for interacting with the mother to be.
Shower Favors
My sister found a cute hand sanitizer shower favor idea and came up her own gift tag saying. We used “Beautiful Day” hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works that I ordered from Amazon.
It was a fun day showering my sister with love and gifts for her new baby boy. You can find more baby shower ideas on my Baby Shower Pinterest Board.
