The Houston area is starting to recover from the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Seeing how people have come together to help each other has been amazing. Those of us not having to gut our homes are helping others and trying to return to some sort of normalcy. For me that means planning what we are going to eat in my weekly menu.
Some Sort Of Normal
The picture above was taken on my last trip to the store the Friday before Harvey hit. After the rain, stores were open but running on skeleton crews. There were lines of people outside the stores waiting to go in, a few at a time to purchase items for their family. Many waited in line to purchase items to donate to those who had to leave their homes in boats with nothing.
Now a week later, stores in our area are beginning to restock their shelves with much needed food and supplies. Thankfully, many of the stores did not suffer any power outages so frozen and refrigerated items did not spoil.
