Life before Beachbody
For many years I was a member of a gym, like ever since high school. And while I’ve always known the importance of exercising and staying fit, going to the gym wasn’t something I particularly enjoyed doing.
As a wife and now mom there are just so many other things (laundry, meal planning, grocery shopping, etc.) that need to get done. My husband on the other hand could spend hours at the gym. He loves to workout. Our approaches to the gym were very different. I wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. Before we had our son, spending an entire Saturday morning at the gym was my husband’s idea of a good time, not mine. I would anxiously watch the clock and think about all the things I needed to get done before I could do some actual weekend relaxing.
Home Gym
It happened to work out perfectly that I was 8 months pregnant when we moved and talked about switching gyms. One of the things we wanted in a new house was a “home gym”- among other things. Luckily, we were able to find a home that met those needs.
I prefer working out first thing in the morning so I get it done and over with. Otherwise, I’m tired by the end of the day and full of excuses. With a new baby and an area to workout in at home I told my husband that I didn’t need a gym membership anymore- I think I’m going to try one of those Beachbody programs from the infomercials. You know the ones you get sucked into watching. Whoever produces those does such a great job! I mean why do they draw you in so much?
Anyway, I started out with P90X and have since done a number of different Beachbody workout programs. I really believe working out from home helps me save time and actually get my workout done. Here are a few of my favorite Beachbody products.

T25
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve done this program. I LOVE that it’s only 25 minutes AND you still get excellent results! The recipes that come with the meal plan are also really good and easy to make. Learn more about this program from my full Review of T25.
21DayFix
This program is great for developing good eating and exercise habits. It includes 30 minute daily workouts and a meal plan focused on portions. The program includes colored containers to help you correctly plan and portion your meals. Learn more about this program from my full 21DayFix Review.
Shakeology
We’ve been drinking Shakeology for years now and really do believe in it’s many benefits. It’s packed with nutrients and superfoods and actually tastes really good. Beachbody Performance Recover Formula
I originally used the P90X Results and Recovery Formula to prevent muscle soreness. Beachbody now has the Performance line, which promises to be better than the previous offering. Recover uses proteins and phytonutrients to help facilitate muscle recovery and reduce muscle breakdown. It helps combat exercise-induced muscle soreness, speeds muscle recovery, and restores strength. The Recover Formula is available in both Orange and Chocolate flavors. You can mix it with water or add it to your Shakeology. It does make your smoothies much thicker so you’ll want to add extra water, juice or milk. See more tips on How to Make The Best Smoothies.
Workout At Home
Some people are gym people (my husband does Beachbody workouts at home and still goes to the gym) and others just aren’t. If you’re not but still want to exercise and stay fit, I’d highly suggest giving one of my favorite Beachbody products a try. You don’t need a home gym, just push the coffee table out of the way and you’re all set. Many Beachbody programs don’t require equipment. Check out my Fitness Page for more program reviews.
